Mainland Tung Oil is a pure, natural drying oil finish, also known as China Wood Oil. Naturally-occurring Tung Oil has many user-friendly benefits offering an alternative to many man-made clear coatings. It is non- toxic and food safe making it an ideal product for finishing wooden serving bowls, chopping boards and children’s toys. Tung Oil enhances the natural grain of wood making it an excellent finishing product for turned wood artefacts.
APPLICATION
Shake well before use. Ensure that the surface to be treated is clean and dry. If previously oiled, waxed or painted, clean or strip thoroughly.
Hard finishes such as varnishes and paints must be completely removed. Apply thin coats using a brush, rag, steel wool or any other applicable method.
Dilute where necessary for deeper penetration into the timber with Mainland Vegetable Turpentine. Wipe away excess surface oil after 15 minutes with a clean lint free cloth. Any number of thin film coats can be applied over previously cured applications.
For best results lightly rub with extra fine (0000) steel wool or fine sand paper between coats, remove dust with a tack rag. If required a wax finish can now be achieved by applying Mainland KiWax Polish or Mainland Teak Wax.
